Monday blues

Yesterday was discouraging... I started the ActiveX program on Friday and quite frankly, I overdid it. Not that its uncommon for me to overdo anything, but boy, I really threw my body into shock.

Two hours before my shift at the restaurant, I was determined to do my first workout in a very long time. Well I do other "active" things, but for some reason, those require a completely different set of muscles. It's like I have the "backpacking" muscles in my legs, and this other set that somehow retired over the last year.

I regress a little. The workout requires some sprinting. First of all, I don't run. I detest running. Sprinting. Jogging. But I dragged my 18 year old son out and we sprinted. Or he sprinted. I ran then jogged then "walked with a purpose". Of course, we are at a slight disadvantage here. There are no flat areas and no sidewalks. Currently we have snow in the shade, mud in the sun, and gravel on the narrow streets for the ice, not to mention sloppy berms on both sides. He suggested we do this at the wash. At least there are no cars and the incline is tolerable.

Wow, and while we did this, some dude walked by and just took one of my water bottles. Wierd.

The workout is what it is, and it has its merits. In between "sprints" I did some squats and invisible jump rope.

Then I went to my second job. It was really busy. I struggled to walk. Run. Whatever.

Hell I couldn't even get out of bed the next day. Let alone off the toilet. For some reason, that too requires those second set of muscles.

I figured by Monday my muscles would have healed some and I could continue, but with less zealous. Then Sunday night hits me with a migraine. I didn't recognize it in time; meds were useless.
For some reason, migraines have the ability to suck all the good out of the world - like evil black holes. My legs weren't any better and now the world was a foul, ugly place. To top it off, I had an appointment at the DMV after work. Yes, let's go to the lair of all things unhappy, unable to walk right, with a migraine. I am pretty sure the Sith run that joint. And now I am doubly pissed because I simply cannot work out.

Today started similar, but I did manage to eat half a bagel. This time my medicine worked and I the darkness diminished. I pulled the workout up and modified it to fit my mountainous environment. All in all, I think it went well. Tomorrow's blog may disagree, as I think I worked another set of those dormant muscles.

Now I have a boatload of chores that have piled up over the weekend and Monday. I suppose I should get off the computer then?
